Today, I will use the icons to talk about the following paragraph and illustrate the text structures which organize the information. Such a paragraph may appear in a science textbook:

The effects of wind and heavy rain storms create many problems

Wind and heavy rain cause many problems in our neighborhoods. Heavy rain may cause flooding of rivers and streams which may damage homes. Electrical outages are another effect of heavy rain and wind. When we lose power, many homes and business are in trouble since power is so important to all our devices. Also, wind may rip trees apart or uproot them. As the branches fall they may damage powerlines, houses and transportation such as cars, trains and even planes.
