My 2-year-old daughter (and Maryellen’s granddaughter), Casey, loves to watch an old VHS tape of Frosty the Snowman at her grandparents’ house. She gets frustrated when the tape has to be rewound, since she was born into the “magic” of the YouTube and OnDemand era!
She recently got the Golden Book of Frosty and says, “Mommy, can we read Charlie the Snowman?” (I think she gets the name confused with “A Charlie Brown Christmas”!) Reading it with her and singing the Frosty song, which tells the story, reminded me of a lesson that we had posted 10 years ago. It is great to use for narrative re-tells, Critical Thinking Triangle® activities, and expository text. We have re-posted below.
Some of our colleagues in the public schools are hours away from a two-week holiday break! Enjoy your break and use this lesson idea in the beginning of January. For colleagues in other places, such as here in New England, we have another week before the holiday vacation, so you may use this and any of our other wintery themed lessons (click here for “Reading Lessons and Blogs about the Winter Season”).

that is plagiarism, did Lauren consent to letting you use her Frosty the Snowman drawing. IT’S NOT CASEY’S, IT’S LAUREN’S. She even signed the masterpiece.
