Includes hands-on tools and activities that focus on Story-Based (narrative) Intervention for children with social learning challenges. The “narrative” is the human mode of thought and is an integral part of social communication; how we share our ideas, plans, dreams, memories & beliefs in social interaction in school and in life. Using Story Grammar Marker® methodology, this Collection helps children:
The Autism Collection for Social Communication is appropriate for 1st grade–middle school for those children with Language Learning Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders and Social Learning Challenges in therapy, classroom and/or clinical settings. This series relates how to use Story Grammar Marker® methodology to help children develop social communication with the goal of facilitating relationships at school, during academic activities, and at home. Specially designed materials are included for developing the understanding of narrative structure, Critical Thinking Triangle®, and pragmatics.
“...MindWing Concepts’ Autism Collection, contains a multitude of sequenced, concrete lessons that illuminate how to help our students learn to think critically while decoding, reading or participating in a social interaction. These same tools are then demonstrated to encourage more accurate narrative language for use in conversation and written expression. These products serve not only to teach the student, but also enhance the teacher and/or parent’s understanding of this deeper process of Social Thinking® so the lessons can continue in “real time,” outside the pages of these books. I find the simplicity of Maryellen Rooney Moreau’s work – teaching abstract concepts using concrete ideas and methods – simply inspirational!” Michelle Garcia Winner, M.A., CCC-SLP, www.socialthinking.com
